Schooling the competition
You might think this is in reference to the positive reviews that greeted our low profile release last week or maybe a post about Tacoma schools but no, this is a post about your browser.
Firefox, a free web browser you can download here, “schooled” the competition when it came out November 9th, 2004 (so recently!). Why? Because it loaded pages faster than everyone, didn’t randomly screw up pages like internet exploder and it worked on Macs and Linux too.
It still schools the competition today. Here’s why:
- It is still faster
- Plugins like AdBlock declutter sites and make you ask questions like “how does this company make money?” (lists of good extensions are abundant)
- For anyone who makes websites: Firebug
- It’s free.
There are hidden costs to Internet Explorer that no one talks about: I posit that Internet Explorer is actually a significant drain on the economy. Half of our releases are complicated and slowed by Internet Explorer’s annoying quirks.
So if you haven’t already, download Firefox! At the very least, Estately will look better for you.

I agree, Firefox is head and shoulders above the competition.

Since at least my perception is my reality, I would agree…very much so. I had held my ground on I.E. and also windows PC’s as I want Microsoft to continue to do well for the economic growth of our wonderful area. Unfortunately Firefox and Mac’s are hands down the best available. You should be able to continue domination Microsoft so make it happen captain. Until then, I’m replying on a Mac with a Firefox browser…and as they say, it is what it is.
