The products each state Googles more frequently than other states when shopping online
There are a lot of things to consider when choosing which state to live in (job prospects and median home prices), but have you considered the online shopping habits of each state’s inhabitants? This probably reveals more about the character of the state than anything else. To better know these United States, we here at Estately used Google Trends to measure internet searches using the Google Shopping feature to find out what items each state shopped online for with more frequency than all other states during the past 12 months.
We used items like popular electronics and games, clothing and apparel, products associated with popular hobbies and recreational activities, and a variety of novelty items and products from infomercials. The results were both terrifying and informative. For instance, Washington state is simultaneously preparing for both a natural disaster and a giant shellfish feed, Wyoming is stockpiling an arsenal, and Ohio and Pennsylvania are preparing for some sort of tragic fashion showdown.
